Welcome to my blog, where I’ll be sharing all about my recent dining experience at Cafe Himalaya! Located in the heart of New York City, this cozy Himalayan/Nepalese restaurant is a hidden gem that’s definitely worth checking out. From their delicious Momo appetizers to their rich Thupka noodle soup and sweet Sel roti desserts, I was thoroughly impressed by the quality and variety of Cafe Himalaya’s offerings.
Cafe Himalaya is located at 78 E 1st St New York, NY 10009, USA. With its warm atmosphere and welcoming staff, it’s the perfect spot to grab a bite after exploring the city. Don’t forget to try their signature Momo appetizer - trust me, you won’t regret it!
I recently had the pleasure of trying Cafe Himalaya’s signature dish, Momo. These Nepalese dumplings are a staple in any Himalayan restaurant, and I can see why they’re so popular! The first bite was like a symphony of flavors - the soft, fluffy dough wrapped around a savory mixture of meat and spices that just melted in my mouth. It’s clear that Cafe Himalaya takes great care in preparing their Momos, as every bite was bursting with flavor.
Next up, I tried Cafe Himalaya’s Thupka, which is essentially a Nepalese noodle soup. I was skeptical at first - I’ve had my fair share of bland noodle soups before - but this one exceeded all expectations! The broth was rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting. And let me tell you, those noodles were cooked to perfection, with a delightful bite that added texture to each spoonful.
No trip to Cafe Himalaya would be complete without trying their Sel roti! These sweet, ring-shaped rice flour breads are typically served as a dessert or snack, but I just couldn’t resist giving them a try. And boy am I glad I did - the combination of crunchy exterior and fluffy interior was absolute perfection, especially when paired with a drizzle of honey.
The restaurant is a casual and welcoming place that serves a variety of Nepali dishes in a comfortable and inviting setting.

A no fuss veg/non-veg Tibetan restaurant that keeps it real. I’m not a vegetarian but only ordered their vegetarian dishes and all were satisfactory.
