Hello everyone! I’m Mercy, the restaurant blogger behind this blog, and today I’m excited to share with you my experience at Joe’s Shanghai in New York City. As a foodie, I’ve been eager to try out this Shanghainese institution for months, and finally had the chance to visit.
Located in the heart of Chinatown, Joe’s Shanghai is easily accessible by public transportation. The exterior may seem unassuming, but trust me when I say that the food within is anything but - it’s a culinary gem waiting to be discovered!
I’m still reeling from the explosion of flavors in Joe’s Shanghai’s signature xiao long bao - a delicate, steamed dumpling filled with pork and a hint of soy sauce. The first bite is like a symphony on your palate; the tender dough gives way to a savory broth that’s both rich and light at the same time.
The soup dumplings at Joe’s Shanghai are truly an experience - these little pockets of heaven are filled with a flavorful pork broth that’s sure to leave you wanting more. The combination of textures, from the soft dough to the tender pork, is nothing short of perfection.
For those who can’t get enough of the soup dumplings, Joe’s Shanghai offers an alternative in their soup buns - a softer, more pillowy version that still packs a punch when it comes to flavor. The addition of scallions on top adds a nice crunch and freshness to each bite.
The restaurant’s atmosphere is upscale and sophisticated, with a focus on traditional Chinese cuisine. The use of bamboo baskets and steaming techniques adds an element of authenticity to the dining experience. Overall, the restaurant appears to offer a unique and refined culinary experience for those interested in trying traditional Chinese dishes like xiaolongbao.
