Welcome back to my blog! Today, I’m excited to share with you my latest dining adventure at Oxomoco, a vibrant Mexican restaurant located in Brooklyn’s trendy Greenpoint neighborhood. As a food blogger, I’m always on the lookout for unique eateries that serve up authentic, delicious cuisine - and Oxomoco certainly delivers.
If you’re looking for a fun night out with friends or a date spot that serves up creative Mexican dishes, look no further than Oxomoco. This restaurant is a hidden gem in Brooklyn’s food scene, offering an eclectic menu of traditional and innovative Mexican cuisine at affordable prices. With its lively atmosphere, extensive cocktail list, and generous portions, it’s the perfect destination for any occasion.
I recently had the pleasure of trying Oxomoco’s signature cocktail - the ‘Smokey Mule’ at their Brooklyn location. This twist on the classic Moscow Mule is a must-try for any adventurous drinker! Made with ginger beer, tequila, lime juice, and a hint of smoky mezcal, this cocktail is refreshing, spicy, and utterly delicious. The combination of flavors is expertly balanced, making it perfect for sipping on a warm evening or as a bold start to your meal.
The highlight of my visit to Oxomoco was undoubtedly their creative take on traditional Mexican tacos. I opted for the ‘Baja-Style’ fish taco, which did not disappoint! The crispy tortilla shell gave way to tender, flavorful fish that had been expertly battered and fried to perfection. Topped with a tangy slaw made from red cabbage, mayonnaise, and lime juice, this taco was both refreshing and satisfying. It’s clear that Oxomoco’s chef has a deep understanding of the nuances of Mexican cuisine.
As someone who appreciates a good salad, I was excited to try Oxomoco’s ‘Mexican Street Corn Salad’. This vibrant mix of grilled corn, black beans, diced tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, and crumbled queso fresco is both colorful and flavorful. The combination of textures - crunchy from the tortilla strips and creamy from the queso fresco - adds depth to this already delicious salad. I loved that each bite was a surprise, with flavors popping in and out as you ate.
The restaurant has a casual, rustic atmosphere with wooden tables and chairs. There are several plants and flowers scattered throughout the dining area, adding a touch of warmth and coziness. The walls are adorned with colorful artwork and decorative items, creating a lively and vibrant ambiance.
